Hannaford Charitable Foundation donates $25,000 to Milton Family Community Center for building improvements

MILTON, Vermont – Hannaford Supermarkets demonstrated its continued commitment to community-based services for children and families by today announcing a $25,000 grant to the Milton Family Community Center.

The donation, made possible through the Hannaford Charitable Foundation, will fund significant building improvements and repairs to the Milton Family Community Center headquarters at 23 Villemaire Lane.

Officials from Hannaford Supermarkets joined leaders from the Milton Family Community Center to present the donation as construction began to replace a portion of the Center’s roof, which has deteriorated to the point of causing extensive damage to its emergency food shelf, child care programs, parenting workshops and outreach offices.

“The Milton Family Community Center is extremely grateful for this generous grant from the Hannaford Charitable Foundation,” said Milton Family Community Center Executive Director Vikki Patterson. “The local Hannaford store and its employees have been longstanding supporters of our programs, particularly the emergency food shelf. The money from this grant will make sure that the roof over our heads is strong and reliable.”

“The Milton Family Community Center is a vitally important resource to our local children and families. Hannaford is honored to assist in their efforts to provide Milton with community-focused outreach and programming,” said Hannaford Supermarkets Vermont District Manager Andy Willette. “We hope the grant allows the Center to continue its outstanding work in our community.”

The roof repairs, which will be handled by Laurie’s Certified Construction based in Colchester, VT. The Milton Family Community Center will remain open throughout the construction.

The donation comes days before the relocation of the Hannaford Milton store to a new building at 259 US South Route 7. The relocation and grand re-opening celebration will be held on Saturday, September 28 at 7 a.m.

The expanded supermarket will be 47,000 square feet, adding 16,000 square feet of space. The store will feature thousands of new items and a number of upgrades designed to create an outstanding overall shopping experience for customers. The store will also feature a new pharmacy.

On Saturday, September 28, the first 300 customers through the doors beginning at 7 a.m. will each receive a Hannaford mystery gift card valued anywhere between $5 and $250. Shoppers will enjoy sampling throughout the store.

The Milton store is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday. Pharmacy hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
